New Delhi, 25 June 2008: Mercedes-Benz India launched two new variants of its most popular car in India, the E-Class. The two new variants launched are the E 230 and the E 220 CDI.

"The E-Class has sold more than 10,000 units in India since its introduction in 1995. Now the product becomes even more enticing with introduction of the new Bi-Xenon headlamps in the exterior coupled with a 3-way Memory package and electrically adjustable steering wheel, all of which are now standard with the vehicle. The two new engines will further add to the popularity of the E-Class." commented Dr.Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.

The E-Class has been the mainstay of the Mercedes-Benz brand in India.

The first car to be locally produced was an E-Class (in 1995), the 20,000th vehicle to roll off the assembly line at the Mercedes-Benz plant (2008) was also an E-Class.

The E 230 is priced at Rs. 41.44 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai) whereas the E 220 CDI comes at Rs. 38.99 lakhs.
