September 01, 2008

New York, 22 Aufust 2008: About 300 workers at Land Rover in the West Midlands have been moved to the nearby Jaguar factory due of lack of work, unions said.

The staff have agreed to move from the Solihull factory to the Jaguar plant in Castle Bromwich where they have been guaranteed two years work.

Solihull plant convenor said they would work on the Jaguar XF model.

According to a Land Rover spokesperson, it was just "good business" practice and the moves were voluntary.

The spokesperson added, "It's part of the deal that we have and they were all voluntary moves.

"Production fluctuates between the two brands and this is a good business way of dealing with those changes."
